What a helper

I just wanted to share some cute pictures that I have taken the last couple days. Jackson has become such a "helper" around the house. Saturday, he helped Jason wash my car.

"Here Dad, I will wash the tire for you"

Jackson loves to put his hand in any kind of running water.I was glad that I was able to
capture the shear joy that running water brings him.
Yesterday was my day off, which meant doing some things around the house. I was in the middle of loading the dishwasher when I walked away and to grab the phone. When I turned around this is what I saw:
He was trying to help so bad. He even grabbed a dirty spoon that I had just put away and brought it to me. He was so proud of himself for taking the spoon out of the dishwasher and walking to me to hand it off. (I was sad I didn't have my camera with me then.)
As soon as I took the first picture, he climbed down.
I'm pretty sure he knew that he was doing something
that he wasn't supposed to be doing.

1st year stats

Well, last week I took Jackson to the Dr. for his one year check up and I decided that I will start posting his stats.
Weight: 22 lbs (50th percentile)
Height: 29.5 inches (25th percentile)
Head circumference: 47 cm (75th percentile)

What this tells me is that my son is perfect (if you don't believe me, ask Dr. Bubba).
I also thought that I would post the things that Jackson has learned to do in a year. It amazes me how much babies learn in 12 months.
This year, Jackson has:
*Learned to sit, crawl and walk.

*Drink from a sippy cup all by himself.

*Grown 6 teeth this year =)

*Had surgery.
*Learned to say mama, dada

*Learned that when asked what the puppy says, he should respond with... "Ah ah" (arf arf)
(this also goes for "what does the lamp say?" Ah ah. "What does the kitty say?" Ah ah. or "What does the rug say?" Ah ah. We are still perfecting this "trick")

*Learned that growling is a great way to get someone's attention (like the lady at the grocery store or the man sitting behind us at a restaurant)

*Learned to use a straw.

*Learned how to eat real food. (He would much rather have table food than baby food...wouldn't you? His favorite foods are: grilled cheese sandwiches, cheerios, and pancakes. Carbs, carbs and more CARBS...a man after his Mommy's heart!)

*Learned how the open cabinets and get Tupperware or pots and pans.

*Learned to make people laugh.

*Learned to melt Mommy's heart.

I can't say it enough. I can't believe how the year has flown. And I know that the next 6 months will hold even more changes for our family! I can't wait to see the person this little boy becomes! What an amazing gift God has given me.

First year...DONE!

Ahhh...where has the time gone. When I was pregnant, time seemed to stand still. The moment Jackson was born, life was in fast forward. (I wish I had a remote control and I could just push pause, just for a bit and take it all in.)
Sunday, July 6th was Jackson's 1st birthday. We had a family birthday party that day and it was, what else...farm themed! We had around 30 people come to my parents new house to help us celebrate Jackson's 1st year. *This is what everone say when they walked in. I'm telling you, my mom is Martha Stewart.
She made that cute wreath the day of the party, So crafty!

We ate so much yummy food (a diet is definately necessary after this weekend!) and then it was time to open presents. He got so many wonderful things (thank you everyone). Our project for this weekend will be to put the baby toys away to make room for his big boy toys.

Next, it was time for cake. His cake was precious....a cow. (the lady that made his cake even made a smash cake for Jackson with cow spots on it...so cute!) Jackson really surprised me with the way he ate his cake. I honestly thought that he would just dive right in and get icing all over him. He was quite the opposite. He ate little bites and made sure that everything landed in his mouth. He even licked his fingers!

*Jackson says "Mom, I don't care about "Happy Birthday" or blowing out the candle,
GIVE ME THAT CAKE!!!"

*Eating his cake...He ate the WHOLE thing!

*Playing with the tractor that Jason and I gave him.

We had such a fun day. I can't wait to see all the changes that will happen in this next year.

4th of July

This has been one of the busiest weekends I can remember! Having 4th of July and Jackson's first birthday in the same weekend....we have learned our lesson and the birthday will be another weekend next year. (I will post about Jackson's birthday in another post).

If you know me very well, you know that I have an amazing ability to win things off the radio! (I wish I could do this for a living...really, I'm that good at it.) I have won Grizzlies and U of M basketball tickets, concert tickets, a Valentine's dinner (valued at $175, I hope Jason enjoyed that dinner because I'm pretty sure we will never be able to afford that one again) and a turkey dinner with all the trimmings (I know, random tright? Well, Tuesday I was 1st caller of the day (again) on FM 100. Well, I won 4 tickets to see the Redbirds game on July 3 (below are pictures).

We had so much fun. We went with Jeff and Leslie and their little boy Reed. Jackson wasn't to interested in the baseball part of the game, he was WAY more interested in flirting with a group of ladies behind us and an older man. He sure does know how to work it.=)

After the game, they had fireworks. I was so nervous, wondering will Jackson be scared to death. Well, I'm pretty sure he wasn't impressed with them. Every now and them a really loud one would get his attention but then it was just back to eating Cheerios.

Then on the 4th, we went to Brownsville in the morning. We had such a good time getting to see Jason's family.

We ate Bar-B-Q and then we went swimming. Jackson really enjoyed that. He swam for almost 2 hours and then he got out to sit with Vernie (Jason's mom). I have a feeling that swimming will be one of Jackson's favorite things. He just squealed and smiled the whole time he was in the pool.

*Jackson and Reed in their floats. Isn't Reeds cute...It's a crab!
*Jackson is such a ladies man in the sunglasses that Jason bought him.

That night, we went to the fireworks in Germantown. This time, Jackson did not even acknowledge that there were fireworks going on. Maybe next year he will be more excited about them.
*Jackson loves the flag.
*The loves of my life
