I wanted to update on how the blood thinners are going. So far, so good. Although it is getting easier to give myself a shot, I still have a mild panic attack each night before I have to take one. =)

Jackson seems to know something is going on. Each night when I give my shot, I lock myself in the bathroom. I need all the peace and quiet I can get to pump myself up and say "I can do it, I can do it!" and every night I hear a little knock on the door saying "Mommy ok? Ok Mommy?". (not quite the peace and quiet I was looking for) On Saturday, when I came out of the bathroom. Jackson looked at Jason and said "What wrong?" Jason told him I had an "owie" but I would be alright. Well Jackson went and got me his band-aids. He said "Handy Manny boo boo Mommy". He wanted to give me one of his prized Handy Manny band-aids (my heart melted). He picked out a band-aid with screw drivers and hammers on it and put it on my tummy. I wore it with pride! Man, I love that kid!!!

The Things We Will Do For Our Kids!

Last month, my Dad found out that he had a genetic blood disorder called Factor 5 Leiden (It causes you to clot way more ofter that "normal" people). I talked to my Dr. about it and she told me that I absolutely had to be tested for it. Well, yesterday my sweet Dr. called me. I could tell as soon as I picked up the phone that something was wrong. She told me that I carried only one gene of the mutation (not two...that is such a blessing!) but we would have to treat my pregnancy way different now. She called Dr. BK (Memphis' main neonatologist) and they went through my new treatment regime! I am now taking shot of blood thinner (40 mg of Lovenox) once a day. For 3 weeks, I will go to my Dr.s office and have them check my blood count. (Can we say "human pincushion"?) Four weeks out from delivery, we will switch to a shot of heparin twice a day. Before my c-section, I will have to wear the circulation boots and then I will continue the shots for six weeks after delivery.
When she told me that the medicine was given by injections to the stomach, my legs turned to jelly. I had to sit down. I am TERRIFIED of shots! I even dreamed about it last night!!! My mom taught me how to do them yesterday, and I was fine with her doing it, just not me! I know over the next 6 months...I will become a pro at giving myself injections. I just have to get through that first one. Please pray for me...I woke up this morning dreading the shot that I knew was coming. I will update soon on how my new life with Factor 5 Leiden is going.

Show Me Your...Wedding Dress

Today on Kelly's blog, is "Show me your Wedding Dress". I LOVED my dress. I got it at Lowe's in Brinkley Arkansas at their big sale in January. It was actually one that I was not going to try on, but as soon as I put it on...I knew it was the one! The dress itself was antique white. The bodice was a lace overlay and an organza overlay on the skirt. There was not much of a train which was perfect for me, I probably would have tripped over it if there had been. If I were to pick out a dress today, I would still choose this one. It was comfortable and really fit my personality.

*Originally, the ribbon was white. We changed it out to better match the bridesmaid dresses. (and I love the little bit of bling)

*My fabulous bouquet and hair. (My sister did my hair)
*Our Bridesmaids and Groomsmen were goofy like us!

*It was the perfect day. Looking back 3 years later, there is not a thing that I would change about that day!
And we lived happily ever after!...

Fun with Mr. Potato Head

He is such a goofy boy!!!

Arrr...It's Parrrty Time!

*warning....This post will contain LOTS of pictures!
This weekend was a big one in the Haynes household: Jackson's birthday party. Birthday parties have always been a BIG deal in my family. A few weeks after Jackson's 1st birthday, I started planning this one...because you only have one 2nd birthday party, gotta do it up right! The theme...pirate (and when I have a theme, I go crazy with it).

I made this wreath and mini flag to greet our friends. I wanted to make the neighborhood that we were a bunch of "scallywags". (sorry, I had to do it!)

We ate first (hot dogs, chips and dip, fruit) and then did the cake and ice cream. Jackson LOVED being sang to! Doesn't surprise me at all, he loves for all eyes to be on him.
*Isn't this so cute? My grandfather made it...It's a pirate ship that we put our fruit in. He is so creative!
*The cupcakes and toppers that I made
*Jackson's cute pirate cake. I love the little smirk that the cake has...totally Jackson!
*Everyone singing "Happy Birthday"! He loved being the center of attention!
*Blow out your candle
*Getting excited about opening presents!*He got so much stuff! Thanks everyone!
After all the presents were opened, all the kids went outside and played. The weather was great this weekend. We had a lovely "cold front" that came through and it was less humid than it usually is.
We had such a great to think of a theme for next year! =)

Weekend Getaway

I have said it before, I wish I could make a living off of winning things off the radio. I won something that involves 2 of my favorite people...Dinner for 2 at Paula Dean's buffet and tickets to see Larry the Cable Guy! Jason and I were so excited so we decided to make a little weekend getaway out of it. (Thanks mom for watching Jackson!)
*Getting ready to eat some yummy dinner! (Jason thought I was nuts for wanting to take a picture with a cardboard cutout.)
Yes ladies and gentlemen, these were both mine. Mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, Lima beans, chicken, meatloaf, chicken and rice casserole, fried green tomatoes, and dressing. I hate to say that I didn't even eat half of the first plate (so wasteful). I started feeling sick during the meal. Jason had to "man up" and eat my share of the meal as well as his. =) Next time we go, I will make sure that I am not pregnant and can enjoy the food.
After dinner, we went to see Larry. We were upset because our show didn't start until 10:00 pm (but it was free, what could I expect). If you know me, you know that is well past my bedtime. (I usually sack out around 9...Man, am I getting old or what?) The opening guy was hilarious. I had seen him on Chelsea Lately before but never really paid attention to him, I will from now on (his name was Josh something...). Then Larry came out. To say that I was excited would be an understatement. My stomach hurt so bad from laughing!
*Singing the funny songs he makes up.
*Shaking hands after the show. I didn't get a handshake....but I did get a wave.

When the show was over, I was exhausted. We went back to our room, and of course I was hungry because I didn't hardly eat anything for dinner. Jason decided he would go get ice and some snacks and he left. 3 minutes later, he comes back white as a ghost. He says "You will never guess who is staying next door to us!" of course I couldn't guess and then he says "Larry.". WHAT?!?!! I jump up and down and start doing the silent scream. Apparently, when Jason was coming out of our room, Larry was coming down the hall. Jason said he just stood and stared at him and watched him walk in his room directly across the hall from ours! (This is when I go into total stalker mode.) Everytime I heard a door in the hall close, I was staring out the peephole to see if it was him. I never did get to see him, but I had fun being his stalker.
*Getting ready to check out of our room.
We had such a fun little "adventure" but I was so ready to go get my little one! We will always have Tunica! =)

Wow, You're 2!!!

(Ok, I am a terrible Mommy. Jackson turned 2 on July 6th. We have been busy and my blogging has been slacking. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!)

2 year old stats:
Head Circumference: 50 cm (75th percentile)
Height: 35 inches (75th percentile)
Weight: 30 lbs. (75th percentile)
What are you doing now?:

*Speak in 3 to 4 word sentences. I love seeing how many new words you learn a day (this truly amazes me). You also have some funny sayings that you have picked up on ("I love you alot" "Hey girl" "Holla"). Mommy and Daddy have to be careful what we say around pick up EVERYTHING!

*You love to sing. Any song that comes on the radio, you know at least some of the chorus. Your favorites include "Jesus loves me", "Oh, how I love Jesus", and the ever popular "Boom Boom Pow" by the Black Eyed Peas.

*You don't watch a ton of TV but you love: Mickey Mouse, Handy Manny, and Special Agent Oso. You also LOVE commercials. When they come on you announce "Mercials!" and get so excited.

*You can count to 10, sing all your ABC's and are getting pretty good on your colors. You can climb stairs and go back down. You can take your clothes off all by yourself.

*You have an odd love of tractors , tools and bulldozers. (You are ALL boy!)

*You are definitely going through terrible 2's. You still bite some and we are really working on that! Pinching, tantrums, throwing toys and spitting are also a new occurrence. Our Dr. says that you are a normal boy and that you will grow out of all these traits. (this can't happen soon enough)
*You have tee teed on the potty a few times. You always let us know when you are ready to sit on the potty. Maybe soon we will try potty training.
*Foods you love: Fries, pizza, salad, chicken, oranges, watermelon, mac-n-cheese, and casseroles. You love all are your mommas son for sure! Veggies...not so much.
My Sweet Jackson,
Two years ago my life changed forever. I love everything about being your Mommy. You have taught me so much: patience, compassion, and love like I have never understood. You are so funny and always light up my day.
My prayer for your life is that you are not only happy but become a man that fears the Lord. It is our duty as your parents be examples of Christ to you and I pray that the Lord leads me to be the parent that he wants me to be. I love you little boy!

It's A...

Yes my friends, we will be having another boy in November. We are pretty sure on the name but we are still throwing names around. In the running now is: Landon, Lawson, Austin, and Stratton (Landon is our favorite). If you have any more suggestions, I am all ears, just remember it has to end in "on" or "in". =)
*Being a little shy. This is the back of his head.
*It's a BOY...for sure!

*Who doesn't love a 3 month old in a pumpkin?

*Practicing using a spoon

*My attempt at being artsy fartsy

1/2 Way There

Well, I am nearing the midway point of my pregnancy and I wanted to blog about how I am feeling and what is going on this time around, because lets face is a little more crazy this time around. (who knows if it will ever make it in a baby book)

How are you feeling?: (*This section is not for those with a weak stomach. You have been warned!) With Jackson, pregnancy was a walk in the park. I had energy, no morning was a joy. This time-not so much. My friend Heather best described it as "puke purgatory". Your stomach churns, you feel so green. You know that if you could throw up, maybe you would feel better, but you just can't throw up. MISERABLE!!! Smells would set me off big time (roast, broccoli, other people's food...). When my second trimester rolled around, everyone was right. That was the magical time when I got my energy back (or as much energy you can have chasing an almost 2 year old) and the yucky feeling went away. What has not gone away is my crazy gag reflex. Brushing my teeth and coughing always make me gag, which in turn makes me throw up. Would anyone like to tell me when this will go away?

Weight gain?: By this time with Jackson...Whoa Nellie, I was big. I mean, I gained 50 lbs. (That's ridiculous!!!!) I took the term "eating for 2" to heart and made it my goal to eat anything and everything in sight! This time around, I have actually lost 4 lbs. I know that this month I have gained some because I am not feeling so yucky anymore but I am no where near where I was with Jackson. I am trying to be a good girl!

Cravings?: Oh my how this has changed this time around. With Jackson, I couldn't get enough pineapple, Big Macs, and tobassco! These are my loves now:

Watermelon!!! Yummy. Nothing like ice cold watermelon to make a pregnant girl feel good. Capri sun!!! I have one every morning, wild cherry flavor only. Something about that little silver pouch just thrills me.

Salsa and Chips from Chilis!!! Yummo. This is my dinner almost every Saturday night. The queso dip is ok...but the salsa, oh man! Just looking at it is making my mouth water!

And last but not least Jerry's Sno Cones!!! Strawberry supreme please. (Thats strawberry snow cone with vanilla soft serve mixed in) Delicious.
