Sunny Days, Sweeping the Clouds Away...

After 2 straight weeks of rain, we finally got a beautiful weekend. Sunday after church, we came home and I told Jackson that after his nap we would go to the park. When he woke up, the first thing out of his mouth was "Go outside and slide Mommy?". So that is just what we did.

We went to our local neighborhood park and had the greatest time. Jackson played on all his favorite things and then we realized there was a "block party" going on a little ways down the walking trail so we decided to go check it out. Man, am I glad we did. We had so much fun.

Jackson was VERY impressed with the firetruck.

He was also a big fan of the cherry sno cone. Mommy was brave and let him hold it himself...

...which you can tell ended up all over him!

He also got to eat cotton candy and M&Ms. I know, I know, Sno cones, cotton candy and M&Ms aren't the greatest things to let a 2 year old eat...but he loved it.

He got his face painted...of course he got an "M" for Memphis.

And he had fun hanging out with Mommy...

...and Daddy!

27 and 31 weeks

This has been a pretty eventful week around our house. I had a birthday. I am offically in my "late twenties"....Yes, I am 27. The older I get, the more birthdays seem insignificant, however; I had a great day! Saturday night we went with my parents to Bonefish Grill (can you say yum?) and filled up on Bang Bang shrimp. It was so good. Thanks Mom and Dad for taking us out to eat!

This week, I also was 31 weeks along. I am really starting to feel super pregnant. I went to the Dr. Friday. I actually gained 3 pounds so I have finally gained a whopping 1 lb so far. I have a feeling with the way I have eaten this weekend, I will have packed on a few more by the next time I jump on the scales.

I also started my weekly ultrasounds. They were measuring Hudson's growth, amniotic fluid levels, and blood flow through the umbilical cord. He looked wonderful. He got an 8 out of 8 on his biophysical exam. He is also "weighing" in at 4 lbs. 5 oz. and measuring a week ahead. He is at the 61st  percentile for his gestational age...gonna be a big boy! I am so thankful that everything looked so great and am still bathing this pregnancy in prayer that he continues to thrive.

*This ultrasound is of Hudson's face and belly. On the right hand side is his head. You can see 2 darker spots, those are eyes and his nose is right under that. We could see him excercising his little lungs and even saw him empty his bladder. Can't wait to see him next week!

How Do They Learn to be Boys?

This is something that I have wondered for a long time. Boys and girls seem to be programmed differently! I watch my friends little girls and the little girls at church and they all seem so "girly". Loving their baby dolls, pretending playing in their kitchens, loving everything pink. My little boy on the other hand is SO boyish. He is a dirt loving, tool-carrying, noise making, all-American boy! Case in point: This is Jackson's newest love...his beloved chainsaw.
This is the first thing he gets when we come home and he pretty much carries it around the house until bedtime. I think that he would sleep with it if I let him.

We have had so much rain around here lately, that a HUGE limb fell out of our tree. Jason needed to use a chainsaw to cut it and drag it out to the street. Jackson stood at the door with his chainsaw in hand and his safety goggles on asking to go be Daddy's helper. He didn't quite understand why I wouldn't let him go outside.

I can tell that I am going to have my hands full with 2 boys when they get older!

Macaroni and Cheese

One of my favorite bloggers, Kelly, is asking everyone to post their favorite "go-to" dinners. Mine isn't really a dinner per se, it's a side...but it's SO YUMMY and maybe more important SO EASY! It's yummy macaroni and cheese.
  • 8 oz. of elbow macaroni (a little more than half of the bag above)
  • 2 cups cream-style or small curd cottage cheese
  • 1 (8 oz) carton sour cream
  • 1 egg beaten slightly
  • 3/4 tsp. salt
  • 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese
  • Paprika
Cook macaroni according to package directions. Drain and rinse. Combine next 5 ingredients then add macaroni. Sprinkle with paprika and more cheddar cheese if desired. Bake at 350 for 45 minutes.
It is wonderful with Pork tenderloin or grilled chicken and a side salad. I hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

John 3:16

We've decided to start teaching Jackson scripture. What is the first verse that everyone learns?...John 3:16, of course.

For those of you who don't speak 2 year-old, here are captions...

"For God so loved the world, he gave his only Son." John 3:16

Odd Behavior

Jackson has started 2 "odd behaviors"(?...not sure if that is the word I am looking for). First, he has found that he has an amazing ability at stacking things.
Exhibit A:This is his first (and tallest) stack. This stack consists of a chair, empty diaper box, sit and spin, his blankie, my croc, a few random toys, and his sippy cup to top it off. I am hoping that we are looking at a future as an architect.
This stack looks more like a beaver's dam than anything else. I sat and watched him do this one...He meticulously placed each toy in just the right place. If it fell over or one piece would't fit just right, he got so frustrated.

His second "odd behavior" is that he lines all his toys up.
Exhibit B:
Lines of toys on the floor...
Lines of toys on the coffee table...
I can not walk through my house without tripping over piles or lines of toys. Am I witnessing the beginnings of OCD?

Big Boy Room

After 3 coats of paint and 2 long weeks, Jackson's big boy room is finally done! I couldn't be happier with the way it turned out and Jackson is in hog heaven...he LOVES it.

It's super bright! Gotta love "Donald Duck Orange".
I got these pictures at a consignment sale. They were in a natural wood frame, but I spray painted them navy. I love the way it turned out...I think they look much better with a blue frame. It "pops" on the orange wall.

This is a stop sign that I "found" when I was a senior in high school. I promise, I really did find it. It was in a parking lot and it was laying on the ground. I picked it up and it has been in my parents garage since then. I was never sure what I was going to use it for. I really like the way it looks in that little corner.
This sign is on his closet wall. This is another sign that I got when I was in college. I think someone in my sorority gave it to me.
Jackson getting to work in his brand new room.
Jason and Jackson playing cars.
Ready for bed. How did his first night go? It went pretty well. It took him a bit to fall asleep. He was so wound up at bedtime (probably from the excitement of the new room). We read a book said our prayers and gave kisses and hugs. He cried for a few minutes and kept asking for more hugs and kisses or his stuffed animal "Boo Boo Chicken" (any reason to get Jason or me in there). He finally fell asleep and slept good....until he FELL OUT OF THE BED (and yes, he did have bed rails). He found a tiny 8 inch gap at the head of the bed to slip through. He was ok, and Jason got him back to sleep fairly quickly. He slept until 6:30 this morning. I would call that a pretty successful night...right?

"Crack" Dip

It's tailgate time again, so I thought I would post my favorite tailgating appetizer. When we go to any potluck or tailgate, this is that I am required to bring. We call it "crack dip" because it is addictive like, well you get the idea... It combines 2 of my favorite things: sausage and cream cheese. Whats not to love?

1 lb. of sausage (You can use mild or hot. Whatever your preference)
2 brick of cream cheese
1 can of Rotel tomatoes

Brown the sausage. Drain very well (I also rinse it to get any extra grease) and return to skillet. Melt in cream cheese and Rotel. Put in a crockpot on lowest setting to keep warm. Enjoy with tortilla chips or Fritos! YUM!

And since I am talking tailgating, let me say...
Go Tigers Go!

28 Weeks

Thought it was about time for a Hudson update. I am already 28 weeks! I mean, where has the time gone. When I found out I was pregnant, I kept telling myself that I had 9 months to mentally prepare for 2 kids and I am slowly starting to panic because I am NO WHERE near ready!

So for the pregnancy stats...

Weight-I have lost 2 lbs over this pregnancy. (Crazy cause I gained 50 with Jackson) Dr. M got on to me about this until she felt my belly and measured me. I am measuring 30 weeks (2 weeks ahead) and she said that he feels "very big" (I'm telling ya, we make football players). She said as long as he is big enough then she is not too worried with my not gaining weight.

Lovenox- It is getting easier every night to give myself a shot. I have one more month of Lovenox and then I will be put on Heparin 2 times a day. I can't wait to be DONE with these shots. Definitely not my favorite thing about this pregnancy! In 3 weeks, (30 weeks) I will begin to have weekly ultrasounds due to being on the blood thinners. They want to check my fluid levels, Hudson's weight gain, and to make sure that my placenta continues to get plenty of blood flow. I am so excited and at the same time terrified. I can't wait to see him every week, but I want him to be healthy.

Cravings- Still the same old stuff: Snow cones and Capri Sun. Jackson has recently discovered his own love for "Pri Sun" and I am ashamed to say that I am being very stingy with my drinks! I am really working on will I teach my 2 year-old to share if I can't?

I had my glucose tolerance test on Tuesday. I am praying that I pass. Because he feels so big, I am a little scared that I may not. I guess if I don't hear anything by tomorrow that is good.

That's it for now. Sorry to bore ya'll. Just wanted to document whats going on so I won't forget.
