Oreo Truffles

My sister's lingerie shower was this weekend and I was in charge of bringing a dessert. My cousin made these not too long ago and I knew these would be a hit.
What you'll need:
-Package of Oreos (or generic...hey they taste the same!)
-1 brick of cream cheese
-1 package of Almond Bark. I used CandiQuik-I have never use it before but I really liked it.
*Ground the whole package of Oreos into fine crumbs. (Use the cream center as well)
*Cream the cream cheese in a mixer-it is easier to mix if it is room temp....
...and then add in the crumbs. Mix until well combined.
*Roll into balls. (I doubled the recipe since I was taking it to a party.) I put them into the refridgerator after this step so they wouldn't be as sticky.
*Dip into the Almond Bark or candy coating. I ran low on the candy coating so I used some bittersweet chocolate that I had in the pantry. I also attempted to be fancy and color the white coating pink and drizzle it on top of the truffles-didn't quite work out like I had planned. They may not be the prettiest but they were still delicious! Enjoy!

She Thinks My Tractors Sexy...

What do you do when the weather is BEAUTIFUL and you live in a house full of boys?...You go to John Deere days, thats what! This city girl had a great day full of John Deere green. We went to the John Deere dealership in Somerville with my parents for a day full of fun. Jackson was in heaven (and so was Jason and my Dad!). It was a man's paradise!
We played in corn filled feeding troughs...
...and "milked cows".
...and climbed on lawn mowers.
We ate hamburgers and hot dogs (Those two guys are best friends!)...
...and hung out and listened to a band. (Thats my "oldest" John Deere boy with the youngest. He is teaching Hudson all about tractors just like he did with Jackson!)
We played with "wildlife" (that may be the fattest goat I have ever seen.)...
...and got our hands on some precious rabbits.
Jackson also got to ride his first horse. He was a little timid at first but by the end he was having a blast!
I love spending time with my famiy...
...and Jackson was happy to spend the day with his Buddy!

4 Months

(Ok, so Hudson has been 4 months old for a week but I wanted to wait and post once we went to the Dr.)
4 month stats:
Height: 26" (90th percentile)
Weight: 13 lbs (25th percentile)-we are watching your weight. You aren't gaining weight like the Dr. would like you to.
Head Circumference: 41 cm (25th percentile)

Hudson what have you been up to?

*You are getting stronger by the day. You hold your head steady and when you are on your tummy, you can pull yourself up and prop up on your elbows.

*You are reaching out for things. You love your little floor mat. You pull the toys hanging above you and try so hard to get them in your mouth.

*You have lost all your hair. It is starting to come back in-but jury is out as to what color it is going to be. In different light it goes from dirty blonde, brown, and reddish. Your eyes are still deep blue and you have the longest eyelashes.

* You love to cram your fist in your mouth. I hate to say it, but I think your prefer your hand/fingers to your "Bob".

*You roll over from tummy to back.

* You love to smile-You are so happy. I got my first belly laugh from you the other day. All you have to do is say "Hey you" in your best Mr. T voice and you will laugh up a storm. Hey, I will do anything I can to hear that sweet laugh.

  Hudson,
I am having the best time with you. You are so content and laid back. Your reflux is getting a bit better and we are holding hope that you are growing out of it soon. (crossing our fingers) I love you more than you will ever know. I can't wait to see what the future holds for you HudsonBoo!
  Love,
  Mommy

"Free" TIme

Last Saturday, we had the greatest family day! The circus was in town and on a whim, we decided to go. It didn't hurt that a woman at the door had some extra tickets that she was giving away, so we got in free-thats my favorite price!
Family pic before the circus begins. We felt right at home at the circus...sometimes it feels like our home is a 3 ring circus!
Here is Hudson...asleep in his peanut sling
Jackson is a boy after my own heart. He LOVES cotton candy so we shared a little snack while watching the tigers.
Tired and ready to go eat lunch. Hudson STILL sleeping...that must have been a great 2.5 hour nap.
Jackson was totally NOT feeling the clowns-he is definitely my son! (I hate them...not sure how I ended up being the one holding him in this picture.) I told him we would go get Zaxby's for lunch if he would let me take a picture...well we got our picture yet my child is terrified. Ha!
Hungry boy...and happy to not have any clowns around him.
Hudson woke up just in time to watch us eat lunch. I think he was jealous we were eating yummy chicken and he had a plain old bottle. I told him that in a few months he would be eating with us.

I love family time....especially when it is free!

School

I just feel like I need to give a little update on Jackson since most of ya'll know what we have been through behavior wise. Jackson has been in school for 3 weeks and everytime I have picked him up, I have gotten a good report. (I hope I am not jinxing myself for writing this!) What his teachers said yesterday though, made this Mommy so proud. His teachers said that he was one of the brightest, sweetest, most polite children they have ever kept. After I made sure that they were talking about Jackson Haynes (ha ha!), they told me some of the things that he says in class. He talks to them about going to church and tells them his Bible verses. He tells them how he prays for them at night. This makes my heart sing. They call him "Preacher"-I love that my little boy is already sharing Jesus! I know ugliness can and will show it's ugly head again, but he is doing SO much better and wanted to let ya'll know.

*I will update soon with some picture posts. My computer has been on the fritz

Thank you!

Thank you for all that prayed for my little HudsonBoo! Yesterday we went back up to the hospital at 7:15 to start another ultrasound. They were still not able to see much because his belly was full of gas so they did a barrium swallow. I was able to feed him the barrium (which Hudson guzzled...GROSS!!!) and watch the test being done. The Dr. checked everything and said that everything looked great. As soon as Hudson's belly was full though, you could see on the test the barrium coming back up and then he threw it up. He said that it looks like he has some pretty bad reflux, so hopefully we will get some more medicine for that and we will change his formula back to Enfamil AR. Crossing our fingers that this works!

Tummy Issues

*WARNING: This post contains "throw up" talk. You have been warned!

Today, this little boy has been sick...
My Mom watched the boys today and she called around lunchtime. Hudson had been throwing up all day-forceful, projectile vomits. So much throw up that she was no longer using burp rags, she was using towels. Hudson has always been a "throw up kid" but as time has gone on it has progressively gotten worse. (This is nothing new to me...Jackson had to have 2 surgerys for his vomiting.) He has been put on Prevacid and we have changed his formula- it might help for a few days and then he is right back where he started. We went to the Dr. and she sent us over to the hospital to have an ultrasound. After being there for an hour (trying to rule out pyloric stenosis), we really don't know very much. They could not see much on ultrasound because his bottle from 4 hours earlier was still in his stomach, undigested. We are going to go back tomorrow morning and hopefully he will have an empty stomach so they can see what we are dealing with.
We are coveting prayers right now. We are praying that this is not something that will require surgery to fix. We will be at the hospital at 7:15 for an ultrasound and we will go from there if we have to. I will hopefully update tomorrow evening.

Brotherly Love-Part 2

Sunday while I was checking my email and Jason was watching the March Madness selection show (that did not include our tigers-so dipressing-but I digress), out of the corner of my eye I caught this...
...some serious snuggling going on.

(Jackson appreciates his little brother so much more now that they have started going to school. To get Jackson adjusted, they have taken him down to Hudson's room a couple times to show him that he was there. Now when we come home Jackson talks about going to school with Hudson. It is so cute, it's like they have each other back already!)
They were playing patty-cake.
And there were hugs...
and kisses going on.
Hudson, What do you think of your big brother? The smile tells it all. If he could give 2 thumbs up, I know he would!

Back to the Old Grind

Well, It's official...I'm a working woman again! Yesterday was my first day back to work in 16 weeks. Long enough to forget almost everything that my job entails and not long enough to feel like I was done with maternity leave (I think you could have given me 4 years of maternity leave though and I would still feel "not done". I loved being with my boys). Last week, I tried to cram as much fun into our days as I could. We...
...painted a picture frame for Hudson's room.
Jackson wanted to show Hudson his creation. It got the Hudson stamp of approval!
We went to the park with Aunt Shawn...
...even Daddy got in on the playing.
Hey Jackson, I see you. Can you see him?
This was the only little boy that would take a picture with us. Jackson wouldn't stop moving.
Hudson took a nap...
...while Big Brother played with chalk.
That is the look of concentration.

Yesterday was pretty rough. Many tears were shed (from Mommy and her little boys).
The "first day of school" picture!

Jackson and Hudson were GREAT at school once they got settled (Jason said that Jackson cries everytime he gets dropped off-so glad he is the one dropping them off or I would be crying too). They did not take naps yesterday but they did MUCH better today. Jackson even went potty 3 times today...Hooray! Jackson is still working on making friends. He is pretty shy around new people so my prayer is that soon he will have fun and have some cute little kid friends too.

Thank you friends for praying for our day yesterday. They were defininately felt!
