Take Me Out to the Ballgame...

One of our favorite things to do in the summer is go out to Autozone Park and watch our favorite triple A team play. One of my friend's husband works for the Round Rock Express and since the Redbirds were  playing them he set aside some tickets for us. I was expecting to sit on the Bluff...
...but we were right behind home plate. Not to shabby for free tickets huh?
The boys had alot of fun!
Hudson couldn't keep his eye off the game...
...Jackson however lost interest pretty quickly. We didn't realize he had put his cell phone (my old pink Motorola) in his pocket. He decided he would rather "text" during the game than watch it.
What trip to the ball park is complete without a trip to the playground?
On our way out, we realized that Rockey the Redbird was giving autographs and taking pictures with the kids. Hudson thought Rockey was great!!!
Remember the terrifying Santa experience of 2009 , apparently Jackson is still not a fan of people dressed up. He talked about Rockey the whole game, so I thought he would be excited to have his picture made with him. Boy was I wrong! (I may or may not have bribed him with Sonic if he would just go stand by Rockey. Is that good parenting or what?)
We had such a fun night!

9 Months

HudsonBoo Haynes, how are you 9 months old? I am amazed at how fast time is going.

Here are the 9 month stats:
Height:  28 inches (50th percentile)
Weight: 17 lbs. 8 oz. (10th percentile)
Head circumference: 44 cm (25th percentile)

What have you been up to this month?

*You finally learned to sit up! Praise the Lord! We talked to Dr. Bubba about the fact that he is not progressing as fast as other kids his age and he assured me that Hudson was perfectly fine and probably super laid back (which I totally agree with).

*You are army crawling/rolling to get everywhere! Seriously, today I put you down in the Den and I walked in the kitchen and a minute later I turned around to see you heading in there.

*You really don't like to be snuggled unless you are really tired.

*You LOVE to eat. You have tried fruits and veggies, yogurt, crackers, puffs, pizza crust, meat loaf, mashed potatoes...you don't discriminate, you love them all. The only food we have found that you don't like is baby food meats and I can't blame you-they smell like cat food. We will begin broken up table food this week!

*You aren't as fond of "Bob" (paci) as I thought you would be. Jackson always had his in his mouth and you only need yours at bedtime and when you are really fussy. You are also starting to sleep with your monkey and like to hold him as you sleep.

*You have a few new favorite games: You love to throw things on the ground and get people to pick them up again, and if I shake my head no, then you shake your head no. I love this game...You are way to cute when you shake that tiny head.

Outtakes from our "photo shoot":
It is getting harder to take a picture of him with his bear every month!
Then a certain older brother needed to jump in the picture too!
And I adore this picture and Hudson adores his Big Brother!

Round-Up Sunday

Every year our church has a fun casual day called Round-up Sunday. We wear western clothes and eat Bar-B-Que together. There is really no particular reason for doing this other than it is alot of fun. Well, today was that day.
I scrambled this morning trying to find the boys something to wear. Hudson went with the tried and true overalls and his cowboy boot slippers. Jackson got to finally wear his Halloween costume from last year. (He has swine flu and wasn't able to go to our church party.) He pretended he was Woody from Toy Story and his horse's name was Bullseye. Don't ya love how Hudson is looking at his brother?
After church, Hudson ate some Puffs....
...and you can tell that Jackson enjoyed his Bar-B-Que.
When we got home, Jackson decided that he was going to wear Hudson's overalls. Not really sure why he feels the need to always wear his brother's clothes. Well, we are off to take a nap. Hope ya'll all had a great Sunday...Yee-Haw!

Call the Fashion Police!

Call the Fashion Police ya'll, because we have 2 violaters. Ha!
Suspect #1: Hudson Haynes
Age: 8 months
Crime: going around the house with no clothes on.

Ok, but in my defense, it has been HOT here...like 100s with heat index's in the 120s! So it's ok that he doesn't have clothes on, right?
Suspect #2: Jackson Haynes
Age: 3 years old
Crime: See pictures below

(PS...how ya liking his new do? I have always "buzzed" his head with a 7 guard and we went with a 4 guard this time...he loves it with this heat!)
So on to the story of this outfit...I was cooking dinner and I realized that Jackson was not in the Den where I could see him-which usually is not a good sign. I called to him "Jackson, where are ya?" "In here..." is what he said. "What are you doing?" And he said "Just getting ready to weed eat". (Seriously the boy loves to play "yardman". I hope he still loves this in about 7 years when it will be his chore) And this is the outfit he had put on.

Offense #1: The shirt- The people from 9-1-1 came to his school and talked to the kids about 9-1-1 and safety. They gave them coloring books, and tattoos, and a shirt. The shirt has the 9-1-1 superheros on it and Jackson LOVES it!!!! It is 2 sizes to big but he still wears it all the time.

Offense #2: The shorts- What is up with the shorty shorts. I asked him where he got them and conveniently he said "I dunno". I had to start singing "Who likes short shorts..." and "Look at that boy with the daisy dukes on...".
Offense #3: The shoes- He does enjoy wearing his flip-flops, so I guess he decided to wear both of his  pairs. (Notice the difference in size...the orange pair is from this summer and the blue pair is from last year and he still tries to "squeeze" his foot in them.)
Also, I tried to tell him that he couldn't wear flip-flops if he was "weed eating", he could loose a toe!
Offense #4: Size!- When I was taking his shorts off, I just thought they were some that were still in his drawer from last year (when he wore a 24 month)...I did not realize that he had gone into Hudson's room and put on his 6 MONTH shorts! Wow, I still have no idea how he put them on, but they were VERY hard to take off.

At the beginning of the summer, Jackson was TERRIFIED of the water-I mean he would not even lay on his stomach in the bathtub! Having been a lifeguard and swim instructor for 4 years, I was determined Jackson was going to love the water as much as me. He has been swimming several times this summer and each time he has gotten more comfortable in the water. My Mom got him swimming lessons for his birthday...and he had a blast!
He adored his teachers: Stormi and Cooper
His lessons consisted of blowing bubbles....
...and practicing his kicks and "big arms".
But the majority of the time, he looked like this. Floating in the middle of the pool and not paying any attention to what was going on in his class. (Remember, attention span of a gnat...that's Jackson.)
The classes always ended up with all the kids jumping into the 12 ft. He had no fear! I am happy to say that he passed his level for Pike and I can really tell a difference in his confidence.

Sunflowers

The older I get, the more I dislike summer every year. The heat, mosquitos, the utility bills...YUCK! (Does this mean that I am getting old?)  There are a few perks to summer that I enjoy: cook-outs, swimming pools (but not bathing suits) and these little beauties....
I love sunflowers!  Every summer, there is a little patch that grows in the middle of this busy city and when I drive by them, I get so happy. Yesterday, I took the boys to this little patch and we had a photo shoot.
I love those little legs
Hudson would not look up. He was too interested in the grass. This was the best picture I got of him.
Time for some kisses. Poor Hudson getting his face squished.
Jackson was trying to smell them thinking they would smell good. He was quite upset when they didn't smell "pretty". He said "Mommy these smell wierd."
Hudson was playing with more grass.
We left with some great pictures and itchy legs.
