Last weekend, we started our Halloween celebrations. We went to my parent's house to eat some chili and carve the pumpkins that we picked from Tom's farm.
Check out my face, that is some serious concentration right there. I think my tongue is stuck out and everything!
Jackson played in a bowl of pumpkin guts the whole time.
He realized that his hands were sticky. He said "Eww, yuck."
Then we all realized we had sticky hands.
We were all working so hard on our pumpkins. It was so quiet when Jackson piped up "Hey look guys, I'm working with a sharp tool." That got our attention real quick....
...luckily, he was just using a scoop. Not a sharp tool, whew!
Hudson got to hang out with Nanny and Gaga while we were carving...
...and he had a great time.
These are our masterpieces. I did Buzz Lightyear and Jason did Woody. I was happy with the way they turned out even though they took FOREVER to carve. (I hate to brag, but those are some mad pumpkin skills!!)
We had a great time. I think we started a new tradition.
Hudson, you are 11 months old (Ok, so last week he was 11 months old...I'm behind but is that surprising?) I'm not sure on all his stats he will go to the Dr. next month and I will get them then, but I can tell you this little boy has grown by leaps and bounds. He is getting so big!
What's new this month?
*You no longer take a bottle and you also don't drink formula anymore. It's all whole milk and sippy cups for this little boy and he LOVES it!!
*You sleep like a champ. Bedtime is at 7:30 and he sleeps until 6:30. When we were in the hotel, he had a rough time getting adjusted to sleeping there, but since we have been home he has gotten back on his schedule and is a much happier little boy. (And yes, I will fill you in on the hotel stay but that is it's own post!)
*I think your favorite thing to do is eat. You can put the food away. The other day, I gave you and Jackson the same thing to eat. I was practically cramming it down his throat and you scarffed it down and was begging for more. You eat all table foods now unless we are eating something spicy then we give you several containers of baby food. I am loving that you can feed yourself. It makes it so much easier on this Momma.
*You love to be thrown in the air. You just giggle-and can I say that you have to have the cutest baby laugh ever. You don't just laugh, you squeal. It melts me!
*We love to tickle you You also love to be tickled. Same thing with the laugh...it is one of my favorite things to hear!
*You still have 2 bottom teeth, but we can see 4 coming in on the top. I feel so bad for you...4 teeth at once does not seem like fun but it doesn't seem to bother you too bad.
*You have mastered crawling super fast. You are pulling up on everything and cruising down every piece of furniture we have. You have not stood up yet by yourself (not holding on to something) or taken any steps by yourself. I am not pushing you though, I know my life will change drastically when you start walking. I am just enjoying this stage before it is gone.
*You love your big brother. Ya'll have started playing together well. Jackson can make you laugh the loudest, you think he is so silly. Even though he is your best friend you are very quick to verbalize when you have had enough of him. Ha!
* You can clap and wave "bye-bye". You aren't much of a talker. What you do say is "Dada" and "Uh-oh". I'm a little sad there hasn't been a "Mama" in there but I know that will come. What you don't do in talking, you make up for in screaming. You have a mighty fine pair of lungs on you! You scream when you are happy, sad, want to get my attention, to tell Jackson you have had enough, are excited...pretty much anything you do will be accompanied by a scream!
*You grabbed my cell phone and held it up to your ear 2 nights ago. I probably sat on the bed and played telephone with you for 20 minutes. I would say "Hello?" and then you would put the phone to your ear and lean your head over. We would have a little chat and then you would "hang the phone up" and wait for me to say "Hello?" again. Oh my word, it was a 10 in the cuteness scale!
*You LOVE to smile. What we get the most is this silly smirk, it's your Huddy smile! You smile all the time but when I get the camera out, I can not get a smile out of you. Such a little booger.
How my life has changed in 11 months. I love watching you grow up and learn something new everyday. You have changed so much lately. You are the happiest, most content baby in the world. I know the Lord has big plans for you little boy and I can't wait to see how he will use you!
Next month is a big one. I can't believe you will be 1. I am still trying to learn how to make time stand still (which I can't seem to be able to do). Until then, I have already planned your birthday party-I can't wait.
I love you sweet HudsonBoo!
What a fun weekend we had. We have been trying to find things to keep us occupied on the weekends while our house is being redone. Saturday, we threw together an inproptu trip to Tom's Farm to visit the pumpkin patch.
Lately I have been that mom that dresses my children alike and you know what, I LOVE it! However, I made the mistake of putting them in long sleeves on an 80 degree day. We had our photo ops and then I put them in some appropriate clothing!
The boys had some fun playing in corn.
Huds may or may not have had a few bites of feed corn. He didn't seem to mind.
Hudson may or may not have also eaten dirt right after this picture was taken.
I love this picture. I'll admit it, I have a thing for baby feet!
...and swang some more. (Is swang a word?)
Then it was time for our hayride to the pumpkin patch. Jackson was totally in awe. He loved that he was being pulled by a tractor. That boy loves him some farm equipment!
Jackson was all over the place on the search for the perfect pumpkin. As his search continued, the size of his pumpkin grew bigger. I think the pumpkin he chose weighed as much as he did.
While everyone was looking for their perfect pumpkin, my littlest pumpkin and I held down the fort and "protected" our stash.
Time for a photo op with my dirty, tired family and my sister and her husband, Darris.
When the boys look like this on the ride home...
...I know they have had a good day! Man, I love fall.
I saw this cute questionnaire on 2 of my friends blogs. I love a good Q & A so I thought I would join in!
(Since we are going through a house remodel, I feel like I don't have a ton to say...but stay tuned. When it is over, I am sure I will have tons of stories to tell)
1. Do you like Starbucks? Are you a fan of their seasonal coffees?
I LOVE Starbucks. I do like the Pumpkin Spice Latte but my favorite is still the White Chocolate Mocha and a good ole Mocha Frapachino. Yum!!!
2. How do you decorate and prepare for fall?
I go all out for Christmas decorating but my fall decorations are a little sad! I have a fall wreath that I love. We also have a garden flag that we alternate between University of Memphis and a cornacopia. I also bought some Thanksgiving suncatchers at Hobby Lobby on sale the other day and I am letting Jackson paint them. I will hang those in my kitchen window when he gets done. (I'm tellin ya, that kid loves a good craft.) I also love a good pumpkin spice candle. I used to get Yankee candles but last year I was cheap and got a candle at Wal-mart. Can I tell ya that that has been the best candle. It makes my house smell awesome!
3. Will you participate in your college's homecoming activities?
Hair school doesn't have a homecoming (HA!). I did however go to the University of Memphis for 2 and a half years. We would love to take the boys to the game but we are so busy right now...maybe next year!
4. What is your favorite fall clothing item and or accessory?
I am super casual...I LOVE a good long sleeve t-shirt and jeans. I do like to wear dresses and tunics with leggings too.
5. What was your favorite Halloween costume as a kid?
Oh my, we had some fun costumes. I have been Queen of Hearts and Cleopatra and a ballerina. I think my favorite/most creative was an alien. My sister and I wore green garbage bags and painted our faces and hair green. We also glued a fake eye on our foreheads. So fun!
6. Do you like Halloween/horror movies? Do you have a favorite?
I used to love them but I just can't hang anymore. My favorites were Halloween and Scream. Now if I hear that creapy music from Halloween I start to freak out! I will now stick to "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown".
7. What is your favorite fall activity?
Oh my, life with kids makes fall SO fun! I love pumpkin patches and hay rides. Picking out the boys costumes. Campfires while cooking hot dogs and smores. Zoo Boo and corn maze. Church fall festival and Trick or Treating. Carving pumpkins and Thanksgiving.
8. What is your favorite fall recipe?
I love anything in the crockpot- to me crockpot cooking just screams fall. I love chili and taco soup but our favorite thing to eat in the fall is Pot Roast and mashed potatoes. It is super easy. Just line the bottom of your crockpot with an onion that has been cut up, put in your roast and put some beef broth and whatever seasoning you like. Turn to low for 8 hours and you have the best dinner ever!
9. What TV show are you most excited about this fall?
I love Thursday night TV. Community, 30 Rock and The Office are my favorite. I also like Survivor.
10. When do you start Christmas shopping?
Last year, I was on top of it. Hudson was due the week before Thanksgiving and all Christmas shopping was done. I'm not feeling confident in my abilities to get it done that early this year. (Secretly, I like shopping with the Christmas crowds. I think it is part of the fun!)
11. What do you miss most about summer?
NOTHING!!! Humidity, bug bites, sunburns...I miss none of it!
12. What movie coming out soon are you most excited about??
I have no idea what movies are coming out. We don't get out much. Ha!
