Family Day Out

Last week, after Hudson got over his stomach funk, he so sweetly passed it on to me on Friday night and all day Saturday! (They won't share toys but they will gladly share their funk) By Sunday, I was feeling better and I was so ready to get outside. The weather was perfect so we loaded up and went to the park with my parents.
We had a picnic and then we played on the playground. Hudson sure did try to hang with the big kids.
He even went down the slide by himself. (That belly...oh, I could just eat it up!)
Jackson loved climbing all the stairs and trying to boss around show Hudson what to do.
Shawn and Darris met up with us and we all decided to hike to the Wolf River.
 *Me and my boys
When we got to the River, Jackson was in awe. He loved climbing on all the rocks.
Flexing his muscles after practicing his "mountain climbing".
After our hike, we relaxed and had fun hanging out together.
It came time to head on home (since we had been there for over 3 hours!). Jackson took that opportunity to hop a ride with my Dad. He loves to be on someone's shoulders (he also ADORES my Dad-so he was in hog heaven!)
"Happy Trails to you..."
No weekend outing is complete without a trip to Sonic for happy hour. (In my defense, this is just water. I was not feeling too hot after being sick the day before.)
No day is also complete without breaking out the ice packs. Today's boo boo of the day was bilateral skinned knees. (That sounds so technical!) Of course our ice packs are Spiderman and Iron-man-apparently they make boo boos feel much better.
And what goes better with superhero ice packs? Iron-man and Capt. America band-aids of course. We bandaged him up, gave 2 stinky boys a bath and sent them to bed. I love laid back days with my family!

What A Day!

Whew, I'm tired and the day is not even over.
Today, I have been trying to make this little boy feel better. (He has been up since 1:00 AM with a fever and throwing up!) Giving 1 tsp of Pedialyte every 5 minutes is exhausting!
I have been trying to keep Jackson out of Hudson's face. (Please ignore the Christmas shirt and the Christmas PJ pants that you can't see...That was what he chose to wear. This little boy LOVES Christmas!) I can tell that he is definitely feeling neglected today.
I think I need a holster for all these cleaning supplies and meds. Plus my washing machine has been going non stop since 1:00 am. I am praying that we don't wake up tomorrow with someone else dealing with the stomach funk! Geez.

Valentines Day 2011

We don't usually celebrate Valentine's Day. (I know, I am totally a stick in the mud!) I would rather spend a night at home with all my boys than going out to eat so we had a fun night in and celebrated the way any toddler would...we made homemade pizza, and watched "Despicable Me". (Totally romantic, right?)

As we were watching the movie, I realized how lucky I am. I have 3 loves in my life.
This little boy is my little comedian. He never ceases to amaze me with the funny things that come out of his mouth.
If you need cheering up (or really just need a laugh!), Jackson is the man for you!
This little boy can melt my heart with his sweet little voice that says "Mama" and the wettest, sloberiest, open-mouth kisses.
...He truly is my miracle baby!
And this guy...well he gets me like no one else does. He is my voice of reason and loves me when I am totally unlovable! He is the best Daddy to our little boys and the best husband that I could ask for. I love you Jason!

Yup, I am totally blessed this Valentine's day!

"Snow" Over It!

This winter has been so odd...It has snowed so much. I was telling my Mom, I know that I am a grown-up now cause I have to pay bills and I don't like the snow! Wednesday was the 5th or 6th snow that Memphis has had. It started snowing while I was working. Jason came and picked me up and we had to drive out to Fayette county to pick up the boys since my Mom was watching them that day-It took up 2 hours to get to my parent's house!

When we pulled in the driveway, Jackson was ready to go play. We bundled him up and we went out to play for just a bit. (It was SO cold we only stayed out for 5 minutes).
Jason and Jackson attempted to throw snowballs, but the snow was just too powdery.
Hudson just wanted to be held...He was a little too cold!
We had fun playing but we got stuck at my parent's house that night. We spent the night and then left early the next morning, since both of us had to work. (That's one of the pitfalls of snow days!) I am praying that that was the last snowday for this year (I know, I'm such a grinch!)!

Peanut Butter Goodness

Muddy's  has to be one of my favorite places in the whole wide world. My favorite cupcake is the Tomboy-chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting (my mouth is watering just typing that). The peanut butter frosting is sweet but not too sweet...that to me is what makes it perfect. Last week, I was craving a Tomboy and thought I would be domestic and make my own frosting...and I have to say it was a success! So here ya go...
(*for the cupcake, I just used a boxed chocolate cake mix- not totally domestic there...but I did jazz it up and add some chocolate chips to the batter. Do I get points for that?)

Shannon's Knock Off Tomboys
1 stick of unsalted butter softened
1 cup smooth peanut butter
2 cups powered sugar
3 Tbsp. milk

Cream the butter in a mixer and then the rest of the ingredients. Beat until smooth. Frost your cupcakes, top with chocolate sprinkles or mini Reese's cups and enjoy!

Snow Much Fun!

What is up with this winter? Today, we had our 4th (?) snow of the winter. Although it was just a dusting, the boys had fun in it just the same (and the city shut down !).

It started snowing around the time that Jackson woke up. He loved watching it come down and then he asked if he could go outside. We bundled up and out we went.
They loved it. Even Hudson did this time!
We even had some time to catch some snow flakes on our tongue.
Hudson and I came inside to warm up but we let Jackson stay out and burn off some energy play. He finally came in 15 minutes later, he was frozen solid. We ate lunch and took a nap. I am glad we decided to play when we did-when we woke up all the snow was gone. We are supposed to have some more snow on Wednesday night. Is it a sign that I am getting old when I don't like snow anymore?

Last week, my lucky streak continued and I won another radio contest. We won 4 tickets to see a sneak preview of...
To say that we were excited would be an understatement. I have been talking it up to Jackson, telling him what we were going to see. Saturday morning, he woke up and was SO ready to go see the movie.
Even Jason dressed for the occasion and wore his best gnome shirt.
I was a little nervous that Jackson wouldn't like wearing the 3D glasses, but he did great. He wore them the whole time. (This picture isn't the best but I had to take it quick. When we walked in to the theater, they wanded us to make sure we didn't have cameras with us. Oops, just wanted to take a picture of Jackson with his glasses on.) Hudson did well too. It was right around nap time for him so he was a little fussy but then he fell asleep.

Last week, when we were sitting in the Dr.s office I was reading my favorite magazine, Disney Family Fun. I saw a cute Gnomeo and Juliet craft. I made a mental note and we did it today because Jackson loves a good craft!
Jackson worked so hard-making sure the paper was cut just right.
We love our little gnome family.
We decided that we liked all the Gnomes but the blue ones were our favorite.

And P.S.- Gnomeo and Juliet is SO GOOD!!! It may surpass Toy Story as my favorite movie.
