Allergies Are No Fun!

Jackson has had a really rough time lately with breathing issues. He's been hospitalized once, and in the ER once, and numerous breathing treatments in between. At our last Dr. appointment, he suggested that we see an allergist for further testing.
He wanted me to take his picture with the toy he found there.
Jackson has no idea what is about to happen.
Jackson was SO brave when the Dr. did the testing. He didn't even flinch!
See, no tears!
When the Dr. came back after the testing, if was VERY apparent that Jackson had some pretty bad allergies. He is allergic to everything outside-a little boys nightmare (but what I was hoping for...Glad it wasn't food allergies or allergic to the dog!). He is allergic to oak trees and pecan trees, rye grass, fall mold (found in dead leaves and hay-no more hay rides for this little boy), and pollen. We have a lot of new restrictions and lots of new meds, but now we know what is triggering him and how to prevent some serious episodes. We also found out that Jackson has a chronic sinus infection. He is on 3 weeks of antibiotics in hopes to knock it out. Praying that it resolves itself before we go back in 6 weeks.
It was a very long appointment....something a 2 year old dreads! He did pretty well...
...but I did have some bribes. =)

Church Picnic

Last Sunday was our church's picnic. This was the first year that we have been able to go and we had a blast!
As soon as we got there, the boys made a bee-line to the slide. Seriously, inflatables are one of their favorite things.
We then headed to the 3 story slide. We were watching the big kids and adults slide when my little daredevil said he wanted to try. I figured he would get to the top and chicken out, but he didn't. (We didn't know the trick that you needed to get wet first. That's why he didn't go very fast. He kept getting stuck.) He didn't realize that there was such a drop at the end of the slide. That's why the video cuts off, I had to talk him through jumping off the end. Our preacher's daughter was so sweet to let him jump to her. He told me later that he was scared an alligator was in the lake and that's why he didn't want to jump.
 My brave little guy!
 We swam with friends
I sure do love that little guy!
We (well, not me but the boys did) caught frogs with more friends.
Look at that tiny frog.
Hudson also begged for cookies from our friends.
We ended the night with our own picnic at Sonic. (We missed out on the sno-cones at the picnic, so we needed some slushies and milk shakes!)
We sure do LOVE our church and our friends.

55 Years!

This week is a big week for my grandparents. They are celebrating their 55th wedding anniversary!
We all met up Saturday evening and ate at Bonefish Grill. Oh my word.....SO YUM!
Hudson had more fun with his little "keep you busy" menu/book. He was convinced that this crab was a ladybug. Ha!
The 2 lovebirds with their little men.
Nanny and Gaga with their family.
Thank you Nanny and Gaga for being such a great example of a God-centered marriage. Jason and I have learned so much from ya'll.
These 2 little boys are pretty crazy about you too! Happy Anniversary.

Hidden Gem

Every year, the Pink Palace Museum in Memphis offers a free membership for the summer. Last Saturday was the perfect cool, cloudy summer day, so we hit up Lichterman Nature Center. Since the boys didn't get to go camping on Memorial Day we did a little hiking right down the street from our house.
A little brotherly bonding on the trails.
 I love these Lilly Pads
Someone needed to hitch a ride.
Photo op with a super busy 2 year old!
I haven't been to Lichterman since I was a little girl, but I was very impressed. They have revamped the grounds and have 2 nature museums. The boys LOVED it. I can't wait to use this free membership this summer!

Memorial Day 2012

We had BIG plans for Memorial Day weekend. Baseball, family time, swimming, camping, playing outside all day long, cooking out...Sounds like fun right? Friday started just like it was supposed to, at the ball field watching Jackson.
Jackson played GREAT! He is really loving baseball.
Saturday we went to Jason's parent's house where we stuffed our bellies full of Bar-B-Que. (literally! Check out Hud's mouth full of beans.)
 And we swam, and swam...
...and came home and crashed, HARD!
Sunday morning, we went to Cracker Barrel to have a family date.
(Jackson took this picture.) We were making plans to go camping that night in my parent's backyard. While at breakfast, Jackson kept saying that he couldn't breathe. Nothing to worry about, when we got home we got the nebulizer out and commenced with the breathing treatments.
He had several breathing treatments Sunday. His O2 sat got as low as 80 so... to LeBonheur we go. If you have read this blog for any amount of time, you know that holidays spell out disaster. (My parents totalled their car at Christmas, Hudson had a seizure on Thanksgiving, Jackson was in the hospital last Halloween, stomach viruses on just about every Valentine's Day...) After 2 hour long breathing treatments, a chest x-ray, and a round of nasty steroids, we were finally able to go home.
No one was happier about it than this little guy! We got there at 5:00 pm and left at 12:30 am. Since we didn't have dinner, Jackson was dying for a Doritos taco from Taco Bell, so we had a little fourth meal, another breathing treatment and we were all out like a light.

The next day, we went to my parent's house to cook out. We did some more breathing treatments and just hung out. We went to the Dr. on Tuesday and Jackson was much better. What an exhausting weekend!
